Israel Sharon (b. 1966) is a Tel Aviv-born composer, pianist, arranger, and conductor. As a young man, Sharon studied piano with Alexander Volkov and composition with Abel Ehrlich. He later studied at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv, where he continued his composition studies with Leon Schidlowsky. Sharon also studied at Rice University in Houston, Texas. In 1992 he became a member of the Israeli Kaprizma Ensemble as a composer, conductor, and pianist. He has composed numerous works for the ensemble, many of which were also recorded by them. His works have been performed by leading international artists, including members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, as well as in concerts and festivals in various countries including Germany, Austria, Russia, the USA, South Korea, and Hungary.
