Day of Joy, for double bass, was written in 1974 as a commission from the Israel Music Institute for its Educational Music Series. And is intended mainly for the first position. The work is based on a song for Simhat Torah as sung by the Jewish community of Kurdistan. The song is taken from the collection of Jewish folk tunes of Prof. Haim Alexander. The work is edited by the double bass player David Danesi.
