Etude for piano (1967) is precisely a "study" for piano. The work is based on twelve-note techniques, but not in the strict "Schoenbergian" sense. The melodic and harmonic languages employed defy the basic rules of the twelve-note system, but at the same time use the note-row and its permutations as a basis for the composer's ideas.
